Luminr’s remarkable women in the spotlight

What are the best companies to work for if you’re a woman in the UK? From now on, you can find Luminr on the list!

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have been recognised as the 2nd Best Workplace for Women in the UK – Medium (51-200 employees) by Great Place To Work UK. As part of the Tomorrow Group, alongside BraidrDisrupt and Found, we are committed to holding ourselves to high standards when it comes to workplace culture, gender equality, inclusion and people championing.

We truly believe that our strength lies in our people. So to celebrate this incredible achievement, we’ve turned the spotlight towards the amazing women of Luminr, amplifying their inspirational voices for all to hear.

What is your favourite part of working at Luminr?

Cristina Pop, Software Developer at Luminr: “My favourite part of working at Luminr is the opportunity to constantly learn and grow, as well as the freedom and creativity that comes with starting a new project from scratch. Luminr is the place where all your ideas can become reality.

I love that the company encourages and values employee feedback. It creates a positive atmosphere where we can express our ideas and concerns openly.

Also, Luminr’s commitment to work-life balance is incredible. It allows me to maintain a healthy personal life while being fully engaged and motivated in my work.”

What challenges have you faced as a woman in a leadership position and how have you overcome them?

Dora Moldovan, Co-founder at Luminr

Dora Moldovan, Co-founder at Luminr: “I’m not a stranger to being one of a few in a room. From university courses, to tech meet-ups, to teams i worked in and to tech leaders meetings now: the pattern has always been the same. The pressure is definitely there to constantly prove competence, say something smart or come up with ideas just to fight certain stereotypes.

However, I’ve been lucky enough to build my leadership career in a group that is not accidentally led by a woman chairman, has other women at the top and is demonstrating the ability to foster an inclusive culture year after year. This has been a huge factor in my development and in overcoming all the external challenges. Diversity and representation are extremely important to me at all levels, as key levers in driving innovation and problem solving – essential skills when building a global tech product such as Luminr.”

How do you feel about our company being recognised as the 2nd Best Workplace for Women in the UK and what does it mean to you?

Otilia Crizbasan, Marketing Manager at Luminr: “I feel a deep sense of pride and satisfaction for this amazing recognition. This accolade not only validates the tireless dedication of our team but also stands as a testament to our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusivity. It’s so fulfilling to see the company you are part of being acknowledged on such a grand scale!

Of course, titles like these are important, but I think we have to look beyond them. And when I do that, I see exactly what I need to see – a safe space where I can grow and let my voice be heard, valued and respected. Being a member of this awesome team at Luminr is not just professionally rewarding, but also personally enriching. It’s a reminder that we’re all part of something bigger – a journey towards a more inclusive world.”

What are you most excited about for the future of Luminr?

Emily White, Head of Product at Luminr

Emily White, Head of Product at Luminr: “The future for Luminr is really exciting. We are always evolving and growing the platform based on what our users need and many of these improvements will start to take shape over the next few months. What excites me the most is how we are integrating AI into Luminr in a meaningful way. I know for many AI is just a buzzword but for us it really is a key piece of our offering.

Working with incredibly talented individuals to build a product from scratch is an empowering experience. Our team has complete control shaping the platform’s functionality, design, and market presence. Getting to work in a tech start-up under the guidance of a female MD (Go Dora!) is really inspiring. Since day one, we have been motivated to foster a diverse team with a culture of growth and collaboration and I look forward to that continuing!”

If you could have a superpower to help you in your job, what would it be and why?

Abi Tullett, Social Media Manager at Luminr: “If I could have a superpower to help me in my job, I would choose to have precognition – the ability to see into the future. It would enable me to curate content based on accurate future insights, including changes to social media platforms, new trends and evolving algorithms.

Having precognition would help me navigate the ever-evolving landscape of social media and stay one step ahead of the game at all times.

Luminr already fosters an environment of creative trust, freedom and expression. This would work in tandem with this superpower, allowing me to adjust strategies based on my knowledge of future successes.”

More on UK’s Best Workplaces for Women 2023

Best Workplace survey is the largest survey of workplace cultures and people practices. Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organisation creates a Great Place to Work For All. Eighty-five percent of the ranking is based on what women themselves report about their workplace, and how fairly those experiences compare to men’s reports of the same workplaces. The survey measures the extent to which women report their organisations create a Great Place to Work For All — for example, whether people trust each other and employees are able to reach their full human potential, no matter who they are or what they do.
